Error Creating Team Project


I am just starting to try your process template for the first time. I have the template uploaded, but when I try to create a new team project using the template, I get the following:
TF30170: The plugin Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.WorkItemTracking failed during task WITs from group WorkItemTracking.
Plugin error text: “TF237121: Cannot complete the operation. An unexpected error occurred.”
User Action
Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator.
I attached the team project creation log. Looks to me like it is having trouble editing the "blocked" field in the database or something? Do I need extra permissions to create projects with this template that I don't need with the standard templates?

Thanks for logging this error (and attaching the log).

A couple of questions...
  • Do you have a Team Project in this TPC that is based on the CMMI template?
  • Which version of the Kanban Process Template are you using the version released on the 5th August (e.g. the v1.0 release, or a previous version)?
This was a known issue on the RC but was fixed for the RTM.

Yes, I have a couple of CMMI based team projects in the collection.

Looks like I downloaded it on August 1st, so it must be the version previous to the one released on the 5th. I will try the August 5th version and see if I have better luck. I will also double check that the CMMI projects are even needed anymore. Do you think removing them from the collection might work also?

Yes, download and try the latest version - we fixed this problem.

The problem is a conflict with the Blocked dimension in the data warehouse - I don't think removing the CMMI problems will fix this as the dimensions will already be in the DW (I might be wrong though as we never tested this scenario).

Quick question, once I get the new version, do I need to rebuild and reinstall the GlobalListUpdater or can I just reupload the process template? I'm assuming it's the GlobalListUpdater that needs to be re-installed? Thanks again for the quick responses.

Hi balgame,

the GlobalListUpdater did not change in RTM so you do not neet to compile and publish it agian.
