Process Step - State?

Aug 1, 2012 at 11:04 AM

Hi ALM Rangers,

I'm testing out this new Process Template (on TFS 2010) and it really is a great step forward to do Kanban with TFS2010/2012 using this template. Great job guys!

As I was testing, I was wondering why I could not 'disable/remove' a Process Step. There is no field available on the Process Step work item type.

As it is common in kanban, you need to review the whole process regulary. I think it will be common that a Process step will be inactive for a few weeks or months, and later be implemented again.

The same state can be used for teams which need less than 4 process steps. At the moment there is no possibility to delete a step.

Second small question:
Do you have any idea when this template will be in RTM?

Best Regards,

Steven

Hi Steven,

Thanks for your feedback! Great to hear that you like the Process Template.

You are right in terms of disable/removing a process step. What you could do is 'remove' the process step work item using commandline. You could use this syntax:

witadmin destroywi /collection:collectionurl /id:id [/noprompt]

like

witadmin destroywi /Collection:http:\TFSServer:8080\tfs\DefaultCollection /id:123

Regarding your second question, the template will be in RTM within the next few weeks, it's really getting close :-)

Thanks for testing!
